The metamodel creates software architecture models across the four architectural areas of Business, Data, System and Deployment. The article explains what a metamodel is and its importance for software architects. It also compares the newly proposed metamodel with the TOGAF metamodel and explains why the latter is too ambitious. If this metamodel inspires others, the article will have fulfilled its purpose. The article is intended for enterprise and software architects in complex enterprises who are interested in developing a new metamodel for their organization.
