According to Reuters, ChatGPT, an AI bot, is listed as the author or co-author of over 200 books on Amazons Kindle Store. However, Amazons policies do not require the disclosure of AI use, so the actual number of bot-written books is likely much higher. Many authors worry that AI-generated writing will flood the market and put them out of work, and they are calling for transparency from both authors and platforms about how these books are created. Science-fiction publication Clarkesworld Magazine has already temporarily halted short-story submissions after receiving a flood of articles suspected of using AI without disclosure.
